Scans of original schematics for ELEX (Excelsior, often rebranded as Hohner) electronic instruments from the 1970s into 1980s. (I have a few to do, so this page will be updated intermittently.) The revision numbers given here are as given in A Spotter’s Guide to HIPs and Strings and elsewhere, but are not ELEX’s original.
Electronic Piano K1 (r1)
A single-sheet 310×1345mm schematic, nº 1002, dated April 1974. This is the original K1 before the bass voice and keyboard split were added. The medium-resolution version (1·6MB JPEG) is probably adequate for reference; the high-resolution version (4·6MB JPEG) might help for small details.
Electronic Piano K2 (r1)
13 pages 216×309mm, nº 1018, dated 1975-06-25. (1 page cover, 1 page parts list.) This was stapled originally, but the staples had almost completely rusted when I got it. Some sheets aren’t quite square. This is the schematic for the original K1, which was sold under ELEX and Hohner (Stringvox) brands; some were also sold as ‘String Orchestra’; some of these had a wood-veneer case rather than black tolex. Notes
- Conventional wisdom has it that the String Orchestras were sold by Farfisa, but documentary evidence is lacking so far. ↖
