For Macintosh Keyboards

Vosathenik-Q is based on the earlier 0.3.* series of Vosathenik keylayouts, before the key rearrangement at version 0.4. The two are distinguished by the leftmost alphabetic key being either Q (row 2) or X (row 4). As some keyboards cannot be converted to the Vosathenik-X layout, this ‘Q’ layout is still useful.

(The VoQ keylayout file should work with ANSI keyboards — where the ` key is rightmost on row 2 by default rather than leftmost on row 4. But as I have no ANSI keyboard suitable for keycap rearrangement, this has not been tested.)

As with the X series, Caps Lock raises lower case alphabetic and alphabetic option-variants to upper case, where the pairs exist in the layout. Shift inverts the current state, so shift+caps produces minuscule letters. (Current alphabetic variant pairs are a-z A-Z, ł Ł, ð Ð, ø Ø, å Å, þ Þ, ḥ Ḥ, œ Œ, ç Ç, æ Æ.)

This keylayout appears as ‘Vosathenik-Q’ in the inputs menu.

Other than the character arrangement, all information relating to Vosathenik-X is valid for Vosathenik-Q.

And here’s a not very good picture of a (not very good) standalone keyboard with the Q arrangement. Click for a better image. (The A1048 USB keyboard is not good for typing but it is excellent for experimental key rearrangements, as the profile of the keys doesn’t vary between rows.)
